Supported Cross-Border Payment Methods on Shopee

Shopee, one of the leading e-commerce platforms in Southeast Asia and Taiwan, has recently caught the attention of many Chinese sellers. For merchants looking to expand their overseas markets through Shopee, choosing an appropriate cross-border payment method is crucial. So, what cross-border payment methods does Shopee actually support? This article will explore this issue and provide a comprehensive analysis and recommendations for readers based on the latest market dynamics and user feedback.
Firstly, Shopee currently mainly supports two mainstream cross-border payment methods Payoneer and LianlianPay. These two methods each have their own advantages, meeting the needs of different sellers.
Payoneer, a globally renowned cross-border payment brand with high coverage in China's market, allows sellers to quickly withdraw funds by simply registering an account and binding it to their Shopee shop. Its advantages lie in low handling fees, fast transfers, and support for multi-currency settlements, making it the preferred choice for many cross-border sellers. Payoneer also offers rich value-added services, such as free multilingual customer service support and secure fund management tools, greatly enhancing user experience. According to the latest statistical data, by the third quarter of 2025, more than 60% of Chinese Shopee sellers chose Payoneer as their primary payment channel.
By contrast, LianlianPay focuses more on providing localized services for domestic Chinese enterprises. Its advantage lies in its cooperation with China UnionPay, making it more convenient and efficient in handling RMB transactions. For sellers who wish to directly convert foreign currency income into RMB, LianlianPay is undoubtedly a good choice. Meanwhile, LianlianPay has launched several preferential policies, such as waiving fees for the first bound shop, further reducing sellers' cost pressures. It is worth noting that during the recent Double Eleven shopping festival, LianlianPay successfully helped thousands of Chinese sellers complete millions of transactions, demonstrating its strong technical support capabilities.
In addition to these two mainstream methods, some smaller payment platforms have also attempted to enter the cross-border payment market for Shopee. However, due to relatively weaker brand influence and service stability, they have not gained widespread recognition. For example, an emerging payment company once launched promotional activities targeting Shopee sellers, but due to technical failures causing some orders to fail to settle normally, it ultimately faced strong complaints from users. Therefore, when choosing a cross-border payment method, sellers must carefully weigh various factors to ensure the safety of their funds and personal interests are not harmed.
So, how can one make the most suitable choice for themselves? The author believes that the following dimensions can be considered
Firstly, cost considerations. Different payment methods vary in handling fee ratios, and sellers need to calculate actual expenditures based on their own sales volumes. Generally speaking, Payoneer's handling fees are slightly higher than those of LianlianPay, but its additional value-added services may offset this;
Secondly, time sensitivity requirements. If sellers have high requirements for the speed of capital recovery, they should prioritize fast-arrival platforms like Payoneer;
Thirdly, personal preferences. Each seller has their own operational habits and technical acceptance levels, so choosing the method that best fits their workflow is the most important.
In summary, whether it is Payoneer or LianlianPay, both can serve the Shopee seller community well. However, in the specific implementation process, sellers still need to combine their own business characteristics and development plans, comprehensively evaluate them, and then make decisions. With the continuous development of the cross-border e-commerce industry, it is believed that more innovative solutions will emerge in the future, bringing more convenience and opportunities to small and medium-sized enterprises.

December 12, 2024The experience was very good. I was still struggling to compare it with other companies. I went to the site a few days ago and wanted to implement it as soon as possible. I didn't expect that everything exceeded my expectations. The company is very large, with several hundred square meters. The employees are also dedicated and responsible. There is also a wall of certificates. I placed an order on the spot. It turned out that I did not make a wrong choice. The company's service attitude is very good and professional. The person who contacted me explained various things in detail in advance. After placing the order, the follow-up was also very timely, and they took the initiative to report the progress to me. In short, I am very satisfied and recommend this company!

They answered my questions as they came in. This 2-to-1 service model is very thoughtful. I had a lot of questions that I didn’t understand, and it’s not easy to register a company in Hong Kong. Fortunately, I have you.

The merchant said that they have been operating offline for more than 10 years and are indeed an old team of corporate services.
